to pastor, and there Bro. Mike met his wife, Betty. They were married in 1975 and were blessed with three sons. Joseph and his wife Hope have given them five grandchildren. Joseph is the Pastor of Mountain City Baptist Church in Mountain City, Tennessee. Stephen and his wife Kindra live in Sheridan Michigan where he serves as Youth Pastor at Beth Haven Baptist Church. Their oldest son Preston was called home to Heaven in August 2004.
From 1975- 1985 Brother Griffis worked as a restaurant manager and lived in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Jackson, Mississippi and Hazard, Kentucky. During this time he was ordained a Deacon and taught adult Sunday School at Shoals Bible Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals. In Mississippi he worked in the bus ministry at Fellowship Baptist Church and in 1985 answered God’s call to preach under the preaching of Bro. Sam Fugate in Hazard, Kentucky.
In 1985, his brother George started Camp Victory in Somerset, Kentucky and for six years Brother Griffis and his family helped there. In 1991 they moved to Camp Victory and spent the next seventeen years serving full time in the camp ministry.
During this time, they attended Maranantha Baptist Church where Brother Griffis taught Adult Sunday School and led singing. In July 2000 he was called to pastor Southeastern Baptist. In January 2008 the Griffis' moved from Camp Victory to live and work full time at the church. The Christian life is a wonderful adventure!
